Morgan had been able to log into her LDS mail account which meant that her mission had been assigned. This was the moment she had been waiting for!! She knew that her mission call would be on its way to her apartment in Provo on (most likely) Wednesday. On Wednesday, May 21, 2014, Morgan camped out to wait for the mail.
Here it comes! |
She was right - it arrived! |
She got back to her apartment and tore open the package - no phone calls to her parents. By the time her parents called, she already knew the secret!! "Dear Sister Smith: You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to the Idaho Pocatello Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.
You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English language." This letter is then signed by President Thomas S. Monson.
This blog will be updated by me, Jenni Smith, Morgan's mother. Please feel free to follow Morgan's mission and comment (only kind things) as you feel prompted. The Pocatello Idaho Mission covers most of eastern Idaho, a small portion of Montana, and the western slice of Wyoming, including Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons. Her Aunt Karen and cousins Savana, Paetan, and Brenn all live in the area (Pocatello). And last but certainly not least, Rozzie will be attending Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg which is also part of the mission. This could be very interesting!!
